Venue Venue Child Welfare |
Child WelfareWGC Judo club and the British Judo Association take child welfare very seriously. All the junior and youth coaches, instructors and parent helpers are CRB checked.
Our Child Welfare Officer (CWO), Matt Cocks has attended the Good Practice & Child Protection Workshop. Matt is a practicing Dan grade and assistant coach for the senior section. To maintain impartiality he has no involvement with the junior and youth judo sessions. Matt should be the first point of contact for coaches, parents and children who have concerns about children’s welfare, poor practice or child abuse. As the child welfare officer he is obliged to report any concerns to the BJA Lead Protection Officer and will decide whether to make a formal referral to a statutory child protection agency. It is NOT the role of the club to decide whether a child has been abused or not. This is the task of the social services department and the police or NSPCC. The CWO is also there to ensure the club promotes anti-discriminatory practice and that it has made clear its commitment to anti-discriminatory practice in its policy, procedures and plans for safeguarding children and young people’s welfare. You can contact Matt by email at matt@bushinmma.co.uk or by phone on 07515 652816 |
