Session Times (as of September 2011)

We run five judo classes each week:

1). Friday 6:00pm - 7:00pm BEGINNER JUNIORS (6 - 8 yrs)

The first class is for children of 8 years old and under of all abilities. Girls & boys learn how to fall safely. They learn how to push and pull their partner around the mat, then throw their partner and hold them down.

The emphasis is very much on fun, with much of the judo being taught using games.

This class is usually taught by Andy Bonfield aided by Richard Sully.

Note – We previously accepted 5 year old children but have found that their attention spans are too short for the smooth running of the class.

2). Friday 7:00pm - 8:00pm JUNIORS (7 - 10 yrs)

In the second class the children are taught additional throws and hold downs.

This class is usually taught by Andy Bonfield aided by Barry Sliney.

3). Friday 8:00pm - 9:00pm JUNIORS (9 - 15 yrs)

In the third class children learn the basics of competition judo as well as improving their judo throws and hold downs.

This class is usually taught by Guy Platten aided by Andy Bonfield & Barry Sliney.

We welcome visitors – Please bring your current BJA/BJC judo licence.

4). Tuesday 7:30pm - 8:30pm ADVANCED JUNIORS (8 - 15 yrs)

Competition judo and more advanced techniques are taught in the Advanced junior session.

This class is usually taught by Ben Almond aided by Lionel Hibbert.

We welcome visitors – Please bring your current BJA/BJC judo licence.

5. Tuesday 8:30pm - 10:00pm SENIORS (18+ yrs)

The senior judo class is for all abilities.

This class is usually taught by Graeme Welsh aided by Richard Sully and Matt Cocks.

We welcome visitors – Please bring your current BJA/BJC judo licence.

Please note that if your licence expires you will not be permitted on the mat due to the club’s insurance policy
